There has always been an intrinsic connection betwen Art & Death. For centuries and millenia human expression has been awakened deeply during times of war, strife and pandemics. Artists across cultures and time-zones have always responded with creative fury. Today, as a global population under threat, we have had quite a medieval reaction to the coronavirus. By self-isolation and quarantine. Boarding ourselves up in our homesteads, much like the merchants and wokers of Medieval Europe I imagine. This leads me to want to share some of the most iconic works of art that address these subjects. Be it the Black Death (the plague), influenza or more recently the HIV/AIDS epidemic. I present these works, not for you to panic, but to just stop for a second and send out prayers and healing for all the lost souls, who have gone before their time.
