Frogpond is a serial journal published by the Haiku Society of America (HSA). It features and promotes haiku and senryu that are written in English. Thus providing a platform to seasoned poets and poetry enthusiasts, for their voices to be heard, and words to be published to a wide audience. The journal is published 3 times a year.

Frogpond focuses on publishing as well as critiquing the latest in haiku, renku, haibun and other forms of traditional Japanese poetry, with a modern twist. The publication also includes essays and book reviews for all literary buffs.

Frogpond & its Supporters

The journal is available in paper as well as PDF form. Subscriptions are of course the primary source of revenue. Keeping in mind their vast reader demographic, the publishers have fixed affordable prices for maximum access to the journal. Following are the annual membership rates :

Adults (USA) : $35
Adults (Canada/ Mexico) : $37
Seniors in USA (65+) : $30
Students in USA : $30
Other Countries : $47
International PDF only : $35

The publication itself is funded and supported by the HSA and its patrons. These include gifts by donors, sponsors and friends of the Society.

Each issue of the journal also features a $100 award for the Best of Issue. The HSA executive committee selects and votes for the best original work in each issue. The award is made possible through support of the Museum of Haiku Literature in Tokyo.
